*2011 CONFERENCE IN HOUSTON COMPLETE*

**Call for 2015 PROPOSALS (ASIA)**
The due date for 2015 conference proposals for sites in Asia (including Australia) is January 31, 2012. Interested organizers should submit a one page proposal in PDF format and any additional presentation materials helpful to the selection committee to Gian Piero Gallerano at gallerano@frascati.enea.it. At least one member of the proposal team, hopefully the LOC chair, should be present in Wollongong, Australia at IRMMW-THz 2012 to present the proposal to the IOC. The proposal should contain the following information:
1. Venue (or city) and suggested dates (month/days)
2. Members of the local organizing committee (preliminary)
3. Official sponsoring organization (if any, i.e. university, laboratory, company, etc.)
4. Access to/from the nearest international airport
5. Meeting room facilities (number, seating capacity, etc.)
6. Local Accommodations (number and rates of hotels, etc.)
7. Merits of the location (social program, sightseeing, shopping, etc.)
8. Other pertinent information that would help in the decision process
9. Full contact information (email and mailing address) of the LOC chair.
*NEW IRMMW-THz Society Formed*
On May 7, 2009 the International Society of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves was officially incorporated. On November 5, 2009 the Society received official status as a mutual benefit non-profit organization operating in the state of California, USA under EIN 27-0578778. The society was formed to give a permanent home to the International Organizing Committee for IRMMW-THz and to formalize the role of the IOC in maintaining the current conference series, hosting the international prize committee for the Institute of Physics Kenneth J. Button Prize, and linking technically with the Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves. The role statement for the society is: "Promoting the worldwide collection, dissemination and exchange of scientific and technical knowledge in the areas and disciplines involving infrared, millimeter, and terahertz waves." *2010 CONFERENCE IN ROME IS OVER*
The 35th, and most well attended of all our IRMMW-THz conferences is now over. 640 people participated from 36 countries. The web site remains open for information and pictures.
*2009 CONFERENCE IN BUSAN COMPLETE*
The 2009 IRMMW-THz conference is over. More than 550 people attended from 43 countries. The website is now closed. Digest papers can be found on IEEE Xplore.
The IRMMW-THz 2008 is over. Photos, activities and speaker lists are still available on the website. The conference digest is available through the IEEE using eXplore.
IEEE has introduced a new journal: Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology that will target the THz field for high impact papers. The Inaugural issue was released in September 2011 and a free copy is available at http://www.thz.ieee.org.
The International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves has been renamed as:
Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (JIMT) in keeping pace with the conference.
The Kenneth J Button prize for 2011 was awarded to Dr. Daniel Grischkowsky, Oklahoma State University, USA.
The Kenneth J Button Prize for 2010 was accepted by Dr.David B. Rutledge, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA

*2012 CONFERENCE SITE*
Wollongong, Australia about 60 minutes south of Sydney will be the site for IRMMW-THz 2012 during the week of Sept. 23-28.
*2013 CONFERENCE SITE*
The International Organizing Committee has selected Mainz, Germany for IRMMW-THz 2013.
*2014 CONFERENCE SITE*
Tucson Arizona is the site for the 2014 conference. Tentative dates for this 39th conference are Sept. 14-19th. |
