Broad Band THz Emission From The Surface Of Van De Waals CrSiTe3 Crystal

A strong THz emission on the surface of CrSiTe3 with thickness of a few quintuple layers (QLs) was observed upon fs pulse excitation. Based on space symmetry analysis, we confirmed that the ultrafast THz emission comes from the shift current generated on the surface of the crystal upon ultrafast photoexcitation. The present study offers a new efficient THz emitter as well as a better understanding of the nonlinear optical response of CrSiTe3.
