Extracting Anharmonic Coupling Constants From Beta-Barium Borate

Experimental data was collected on beta-barium borate (BBO) using two-dimensional terahertz spectroscopy (2D-THz-THz-transmission) to create plots showing nonlinear frequency coupling. Models of the same plots were created using the coupled equations of motion for each symmetry-allowed trilinear and quadratic linear coupling in BBO. A qualitative comparison was made between the models and the experimental data to determine there are 97 active couplings out of 515 possible couplings. Next, fitting was attempted to quantitatively extract the coupling constants for the active anharmonic couplings occuring in BBO.
