We study the excitation of the acoustic plasmons in graphene-based structure by free electrons. The acoustic plasmon modes in these structures are extremely confined, it means that the plasmon wavelength is much lower than the wavelength of the light in vacuum, in the same frequency. With the tunable beam energy of free electrons, we can achieve the broadband plasmon excitation in THz ~ mid-IR frequency range. And We can clearly observe branches of the different plasmon modes. Our results are much important to the fundamental studies of the strong light-matter interactions at the nanoscale in THz and IR frequencies.
