We investigate THz Raman spectra of graphite flakes and SWCNT aerogel using a 532 nm laser. THz Raman spectroscopy incorporates both the THz “structural fingerprint” and the Raman “chemical fingerprint” regions. Our results indicate graphite flakes and SWCNT aerogel have inelastic scattering properties in this THz region, mainly arising from the intra-molecule and intermolecular van der Waals bonds. In the structurally-relevant Raman band (10 cm-1 to 400 cm-1), these spectra shown multiple Raman features, which may be used to identify and discriminate subtle low-frequency Raman modes in low-dimensional sp2 carbon systems and specific chemical bonds and roles in THz region.
