Quadrature Hybrids For Sideband Separating Receivers On The WSMA

In this poster, we present two quadrature hybrid designs for operation at ~345 GHz. These hybrids were designed for sideband separating (2SB) receivers currently in development for the wideband Submillimeter Array (wSMA). The first design uses a branch-line structure and simulated results show that the image rejection ratio, return loss and isolation are all above 20.6 dB from 280-360 GHz. The second hybrid is a novel design using silicon-mounted cross-guide probes. The simulated results show that the image rejection ratio, return loss and isolation are all above 28.0 dB from 330-360 GHz.
