By combing the high-order mode multi-beam technology and the extended-interaction technology, klystrons are expected to achieve high power in millimeter-wave and beyond. And the research on the excitation characteristic of this complex structure is the basis of its design. In this paper, the analysis of the interaction characteristic between the multiple beams and the coaxial five-gap cavity operating in the TM51-2Ã? mode is performed through the 3-D particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation.
