We study THz thermal detection based on a conductive polymer (PEDOT: PSS), which is used simultaneously as the thermal sensitive material, radiation absorption layer, thermal insulation layer, as well as the electrical connection material. Temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of PEDOT: PSS is characterized over a very broad temperature range (90K-480K). Radiation absorption of PEDOT: PSS in the THz range is studied. Thermal response of a thin PEDOT: PSS film is also demonstrated. This work is especially contributive to the design and implementation of low-cost THz bolometers due to the unique optical and electronic properties and solution-processability of PEDOT: PSS.
