1956-2026

Dr. Coutaz was an official member of our IRMMW-THz conference International Organizing Committee from 2004 through to 2018 and an active participant in the conference series going back much further. 

He was a Professor Emeritus of Physics at the CROMA laboratory and internationally recognized for his pioneering work on THz radiation.  He had a distinguished career as a Professor at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc and was the deputy director of the Institute of Microelectronics, Electromagnetism and Photonics, and the Laboratory of Microwaves and Characterization (IMEP- LaHC), where he led research activities in THz-TDS, electro-optic sampling, and ultrafast semiconductors beginning in 1994. 

Jean-Louis passed away on February 2 at the age of 69.
