Social Program

The IRMMW-THz 2014 organizers are pleased to invite all conference participants and their companions to a series of social events, scheduled during the week, to strengthen relationships in our community.

On Sunday evening September 14th, from 4pm to 7pm, a Welcome Reception will be held at the University of Arizona Student Union where the conference will be held. You will be able to pick up your registration package and enjoy some relaxation time with colleagues. Drinks and light hors d'œuvres will be available and a Jazz Trio from the U. of Arizona School of Music will be performing.

The Conference Banquet will be held on Wednesday evening September 17th at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson. Buses will transport participants to/from the museum beginning at 6:30PM. You will be able to enjoy the museum exhibits, a pre-dinner reception and a full meal on site. We will return to the campus and hotels sometime around 10PM.

On Friday afternoon, the conference is sponsoring a series of excursions to a variety of sites around Tucson. Participants can sign up for one of the possible excursions which are planned to include the Arizona-Sonora Desert MuseumBiosphere 2, the Titan Missile Museum, and the University of Arizona Steward Observatory's Mirror Lab. The excursions will begin after the closing session at the Student Union on Friday and we plan to be back at the hotels by 6PM latest. We are hoping to be able to provide lunches on that day. Please make certain you book your stay through to Saturday September 20th so you can fully participate in any of the planned excursions. Certain excursions have limited enrollment (Titan Museum and Mirror lab). These will be filled by registrants who have signed up on a first come-first serve basis.

For those guests and attendees who wish to see more of Tucson we are planning a full guest program with excursions to most of the places already mentioned as well as others (Kitt Peak national Observatory) during the week of the conference. You will be able to sign up for the various excursions on a first-come first-serve basis at the registration desk on Sunday. Excursions start Monday afternoon.
